Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. This is owing to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for many years. Clients from many of the nearby states pile in automobiles and visit Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Native tribes of Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Indian band to take advantage of the gambling rules, and at this time control 10 gambling dens of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were built on. computerized games like slot machines were not authorized, on the grounds that they are thought to lead to gambling dependency more than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law have altered to permit big Amerindian gaming casinos. You’ll now see American Indian casinos with slots, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not legal in the Indian gambling halls as of yet, but that is only a matter of time. No one can authority what having other games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
