Could the Smoking Ban in England Take Bingo Players Online?

An abundance has been reported in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to help keep the industry alive. However does the online version of this quintessential game present a reprieve, or will it never compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo has been an ancient game historically played by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had witnessed a recent increase in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo halls rather than the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to be destroyed with the introduction of the smoking ban across United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular places where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already not permitted in the bingo parlors. Players have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not deserted this familiar game?

The answer is on the web. People realise that they can participate in bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beer and cigarette and still enjoy monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course playing on the net can never replace the communal portion of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of players the law has left a good many bingo players with no choice.
