Bingo and Oklahoma: Two birds of a feather

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for generations. Guests from every one of the neighboring states get in vehicles and travel into Oklahoma to bet on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Amerindian bands located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the wagering rules, and today control ten casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which these casinos were founded. automated games such as slots were not authorized, because they are believed to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit enormous Native gaming gambling dens. You’ll now see Indian gambling dens with slot machine games, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Amerindian gambling dens yet, but this is simply a matter of time. Nobody can determine what having different gambling den games in the bingo parlors will do for the draw of bingo.
